Tai Chi is a form of Kung-Fu classified as an “internal art.” Although it has combat applications, Tai Chi is often practiced for longevity and health because of its restorative movements, breathing techniques, balance-based postures, and meditation practices. Even though its roots reach back to Ancient China, Tai Chi is practiced worldwide.

Balance, Breathing and Mental Focus
Tai Chi is for anybody who wants to increase their health, balance, stability, breathing, mental focus, and open their mind to new concepts that can enhance their martial arts training. Although Tai Chi is most commonly used for its vast number of health benefits, it did originate as a combat style and has many techniques that translate into Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Aikido, and of course, Kempo.
Our Tai Chi classes begin with the practice of Qiqong (CHI-KONG); a series of exercises, stretches, and breathing techniques to prepare you for movement and exercise. We demonstrate a “short form” series of movements and stances pertaining to combat applications, as well as restorative stances of Tai Chi.
Tai Chi is generally practiced at a slow, methodical pace for health and wellness. Your instructor will also demonstrate how these seemingly gentle movements can be applied to combat situations! As you learn to maintain balance in your movements and postures, you will feel an increase in strength, stability and stamina.
